Our Newest Artist Partners – Fall 2022

We’re so excited to welcome the talents, perspectives, and diverse practices of our newest cohort of artists who have joined our Artist Partners Program. We can’t wait to introduce their works to our clients in upcoming projects. Get to learn a little more about each one of them below.

Leslie Adkins

(she/her)

b. Urbana, Illinois 1984
Lives and works in Topanga, CA

Leslie Adkins is a mixed media artist and figurative painter, who investigates identity, symbiology, heritage, and decolonization through painting. At the core of Adkin’s work is a longing to express and celebrate the complexity of Black identity, as well as highlight an essential connection to nature, and the fluidity inherent in the masculine and feminine. As a mixed media artist and figurative painter, much of Adkin’s work involves painting with acrylics on canvas, linen, and reclaimed wood, gravitating towards these specific materials because of the organic qualities they imbue within her work.

Stella Nall

(she/her)

b. Bozeman, Montana 1997
Lives and works in Missoula, MT

Stella Nall is a multimedia artist and poet from Bozeman, and a First Descendant of the Apsáalooke Tribe. Nall’s work is driven by three primary forces: to process her experiences, to connect with others, and to advocate for change. Growing up being exposed to traditional beadwork from her mother, Nall observed the stitches, palettes and patterns used, which still influence her work today. Nall combines beadwork with other two dimensional forms of art-making such as printmaking, painting, and illustration, with the intention of challenging existing stereotypes and expectations viewers may hold about what Indigenous art should look like.

Sara Cardona

(she/her)

b. Mexico City, 1971
Lives and works in Dallas, TX

Sara Cardona uses the analog process of cut-and-paste to create collages in the tradition of early twentieth century assemblage and in a nod to the editing process of film. These collages become the foundation for large scale sculptures in paper and metal, which are inspired by the idea of distributive, human networks of capital and consumption. As an artist who grew up in a family involved in the film and theater industry, her work is informed by the intersection of artifice, spectacle, photography and scenic construction.
