Farmboy on Divine Design Show

Farmboy artwork will once again be featured on another episode of Divine Design. When a couple purchased their home a year ago they geared up for a major renovation. After finishing the main floor, the work through the rest of the house stopped abruptly when life threw them a challenge they didn’t see coming. Shortly after the thrilling news that they were expecting their first child, they were devastated to learn that Tamara had cancer. They quickly shelved plans to finish the house and got on with an endless barrage of medical appointments. When Jeff wrote to Divine Design, he was hoping that Candice would finish their bedroom and transform the space into an oasis of calm for Tamara... a place to be with brand-new baby daughter Jasmine, and to recuperate in peace from her now completed medical treatments. One perfectly divine makeover complete with Farmboy artwork! Check your local listing for the show airing on November 27th.

Featured Artist • Photographer
Todd Lawson

As a child, Todd's summers were spent jumping from the barn rooftops onto big piles of hay on his grandparents' farm in rural Alberta. A true 'farmboy' upbringing. Lots has changed since then. In 2001, Todd made a decision to change the course of his life by jumping into the diverse world of photography. He attended the Western Academy of Photography completing a photography and journalism diploma, and earning the 'best overall student' award in the process. Since then, he has photographed diverse assignments around the world for TV commercials, travel magazines, the action sports industry, and hard-news events. He loves shooting the indigenous cultures in Third World countries, and the beauty of his own backyard in British Columbia.

More in Todd Lawson's FEATURED COLLECTION

His love for adventure travel has taken him through more than 50 countries, most of them by motorcycle, without any guidebooks or cell phone. He puts himself amongst both tropical beauty and third-world squalor - the perfect stomping grounds, he thinks, to capture the finest obscurities of life behind his hard-working lens.

Lawson isn't the kind of shooter to get pigeon-holed into one kind of genre. Diversity fuels Todd's passion for photography. His creative nature and original flair shine through in his imagery, which often feature striking color and fluid motion. Todd is presently on the road shooting from the seat of his motorcycle somewhere in the Sudan, touring Africa by motorcycle, raising funds to fight Malaria. When he gets back to Canada, he wants to go back to the farm, sit on a the barn roof for a while, then jump.

Tune into the FARMBOY PODCAST to hear about his adventures.

What is Generative Art?

The term 'Generative Art' refers to any art practice where the artist uses a system, such as a set of natural language rules, a computer program, mathematics, a machine, or other procedural invention, which sets into motion with some degree of autonomy and self organization, contributing to or resulting in a work of art.

The famous Mandelbrot Fractal...

Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of generative art is that the system to which the artist cedes partial or total subsequent control can result in pattern of such sublime, prodigious complexity as to mirror natural forms. These patterns, derived from simple initial instructions, mimic the processes of creation in nature. The fact that a fern frond, a spiral nebula, and the patterns in the iris of a human eye, all appear fractal, is because they are... as is everything in the universe.
