Another HD Show Under the Farmboy Belt!

Expo 2009 has come and gone, and we are feeling reflective after another successful tradeshow. Our Farmboy booth, the creative vision of lead designer Evelyn Sum, wowed the crowds – and the judges – again this year! Farmboy walked away with yet another award for our booth in the 200 square foot category, which we reckon ain’t too shabby! Thanks to everyone who came by to check out our art and design. We look forward to the show every year and it never disappoints us!

Farmboy Featured Artist • Christopher Swift

featured artist

Christopher Swift, this month’s featured Farmboy photographer, started shooting in the mid-80’s in New York City. From the beginning there was a strong pull in his work towards industrial decay. In the early 90’s he moved to Thailand and the development of his photography took what he calls “a strong upward swing. I was shooting regularly and honing in on what is now my love: decay, dilapidation, and erosion, all with an industrial bent (Charles Sheeler and River Rouge come to mind). I continue to be fascinated by the personality that emerges in the inanimate around us, but only after a half century or so of weathering and experience. I've seen some ancient trucks plying the streets of Bangkok that have more personality than some people I've met!” Christopher has now been living and shooting in Thailand for almost 20 years. He won the 2005 United Nations International Photography Competition in the honorary mention category for a series of three he did of a sugar mill. “It was nothing short of an inspirational juggernaut – a horrible yet irresistible force. It embodied everything I love to shoot and, although I'm back in the States now, I look forward to the day when I'll return to the land I love and the subjects I long to shoot.” Find Christopher’s work in our image Stockyard: www.farmboyfinearts.com/imagesearch/
